Hull based Sewell Construction were awarded the contract to build a new classroom block at Harrogate Grammar School to enable the school’s expansion plans, by creating three additional classrooms, a large atrium to be used during winter months, and a new student entrance to address congestion during lesson transition times. Harrogate Steel was awarded the structural steel package which included full connection design, detailing, fabrication, painting and installation of the 45-tonne steel frame.

The Harrogate Steel team’s early involvement in this project was key to its success. The architectural led design and site layout were both complex and challenging and involved reusing space within a 1930’s building footprint.
