Harrogate based HACS Group were recently awarded the contract to construct a new café building for Daleside Nurseries Ltd in Killinghall, Harrogate. They chose to partner with Harrogate Steel who were awarded the structural steel sub-contract package. Their scope included connection design, detailing, fabrication, painting, and erection of the 20-tonne steel structure.

The intricate architectural design of the building incorporates various steelwork “features”, with exposed specialist architectural bracings being just one of the many requirements. This meant that highly accurate detailing and concentrated early-stage co-ordination between all parties was needed. Constant communication and ongoing design flexibility were key factors in the successful delivery of this project. As specialists in complex steelwork projects the Harrogate Steel team worked closely with HACS, and the client’s architect and structural engineer to ensure the high quality of the final finish required.
